Station of Paimpol

Paimpol, a station of the former Breton network, is my new project. I will resume later my work on the roundhouse of Villeneuve Saint Georges. For the moment, I don't have photographs which would enable good textures for the modeling.
Last year, I've had the opportunity to photograph this station of Paimpol, with the aim of modelling it later.


Gare de Paimpol

Paimpol is the terminus of the line Carhaix - Guingamp - Paimpol, one of the lines of the Breton network, star shaped around Carhaix, using the metric gauge

This line has been declared of public interest in 1881 and has been opened on August 14th, 1894.

A third rail is added in 1924 in order to allow the circulation of standard gauge trains. A rail was deposited in order to preserve only the standard gauge in 1953.
Like Guingamp and PlouÃ«c, Paimpol is one of the connexion stations with the railway network of Chemins de fer des CÃ´tes du Nord.

I've been very busy at the end of 2011, so I've contacted Georges JENNY again only at the beginning of 2012. He's immediately sent me the documents and plans that I wished and now, the work can begin!

November 2011

At the request of Nicolas (Tiguiche) on the forum APTF, I've decided to model the covered roundhouse of Chambéry.

I've contacted Georges JENNY, former member of the APMFS (Association pour la Préservation du Matériel Ferroviaire Savoyard), who will supply me some plans, which will be precious for the modelling of this beautiful building

This announcement on this site obliges me now to move forward on this project!

Turntables (36 tracks)

Some turntables allow to serve 36 ways, and not 48 as those that I have already modelled.

A friend of the forum, working on a map reproducing the depot of ChambÃ©ry, needs such a turntable (the ideal would be a length of 21 meters).

The modification of the config file of an existing turntable is not sufficient because it is also necessary to modify the angle of the tracks which is 10 Â° instead of 7,5 Â° for a turntable of 48 ways).

So, I have proposed him to model a turntable of 36 tracks (with a length of 24 meters in a first time).

For this new turntable, I also model a new cabin, similar to that of ChambÃ©ry.

3rd of june, 2011 : the first version of this turntable is online!

I've added some details inspired by the turntable of ChambÃ©ry, and I've removed the cupboard at the center of the turntable.

Of course, this turntable is not compatible with the type P roundhouse because the tracks are spaced out with angles of 10 degrees against 7,5 degrees for the type P roundhouse.

In addition to the P type roundhouse, I've modelled a 27 meter turntable, which accompanied this beautiful building.
I don't have many documentation, so I've based my works on the observation of the old Jouef turntable that I've retrieved from my former model railway

I've also used the plan which has been published in the special issue nÂ° 17 of Loco Revue, what allowed me in particular to refine the profile of the central pivot

I've almost ended the application of textures for the turntable and the pit.

The Beta 1 release is online (in complement with the modules of the type P roundhouse).

23rd may, 2011 - New : 27 m turntable with brown pit (hard-packed surface)

9th june, 2011 : the 24 m turntable is online!

There were too 24 m turntables. This size was demanded by some friends of the forums! Here it's on-line, in 2 versions (as the 27 m turntable): grey pit and brown pit (hard-packed surface)!

The track of the different module and turntable is a FMA track created by Vendel, which can be uploaded from the DLS. Its name is FMA Rail-only track 20m straight - KUID:149987:38999;

I aim to create soon a special track for these objects, in order to avoid external dependences

The tavern of the station, quite a symbol in the small villages!

I had to model it! It is about my second realization, a little more complex, but not too much!

I am not very satisfied with the texture, I think that I should work again it.

In the reality, this establishment is always very alive, contrary to its neighbour the station !

The station of MÃ¢lain

One of the major realizations shown during this Mondial du ModÃ©lisme 2010 was the reproduction of the station of MÃ¢lain.

In the real world, this station is located on the "imperial" line Paris - Lyon - Marseille, between Blaisy and Dijon.

It has been reproduced in a very realistic way by the Arc en Ciel club of Maisons-Alfort, in the suburbs of Paris.

Behind the scenes of this modular group there were many sidings which allowed a big variety of trains, from the Train Bleu or the Mistral to modest local trains and goods trains.

I've liked the quality of the background of the model, obtained by treatment of a digital photography.

Finally, this technique is not so far from what we do for our virtual creations!

The station of Nouvion sur Meuse

Regarding N scale, one of the most beautiful realizations of this exhibition was presented by Guy Visioli, member of the AFAN.

It is about the reproduction on N scale of the station of Nouvion sur Meuse, in the Ardennes.

On a length of several meters, the station and its installations take all their ease and are well represented, in a clean style which pleased me
(But maybe this was due to the state of progress of the model)?

Maybe a small drawback : the background could be enhanced, and during this exhibition, it was suffering from being close to the station of MÃ¢lain with its very beautiful background, made with an image editing software

Northern house 9

Once again, this 9th house is a northern french house.

It is in Sars-Poteries, a small town in the Avesnois, in the north of France

It's an easy project, before I model a type P roundhouse with its turntable, which will be more complex!

So, I am not very quick, but a first version of this house is already available!

It has no night mode, neither the "Ã©pi de faÃ®tage" (pinnacle tuft!) which can be seen on the photo of the real house (this is a glass decoration - Sars-Poteries is renowned for its glass-making craftsmen - which is set at he top of the roof, like the decorations fastened at the top of the Christmas tree).

I should soon put online the second version of this house!

P type Roundhouse

For several months, I want to model a P type roundhouse.

This very elegant building was conceived by the architect Bernard LAFAILLE for the reconstruction of the depots which had been destroyed during the 2nd world war.

The first one was built in Avignon, and it's been the prototype of a numerous series.

I always liked this building and of course I'd bought the JOUEF model (see the photos of my former model network).

Thus, this is a new challenge, more complex than the creations I already have made, especially since it also includes the modelling of the turntable, for which the friends of the forums on Trainz have already given some useful advice to me.

For the modelling of the roundhouse, I can be inspired by the work of 2 students at the School of Architecture of Marseille Luminy: Julien AMOUROUX and Cyril RODIER.

They've put on-line some pages which present their project with data and some ideas which could be very useful for me!

First, I've tested the realisability of a roundhouse on 360Â°. Then I've realized 3 modules which allow to make up a roundhouse covering the wished number of tracks (as Jouef made for its roundhouse in HO scale).

The 3 modules are completed. The photos give an idea of the final result.

The 27 m turntable which often accompanied this roundhouse is quite finished.

I've put online a beta release of these different objects.

Few times ago, I was searching on the DLS for stations and I've been surprised to hang on the station of Jeumont (it is near from my native town).

Intrigued, I refined my research with the name of the creator (jcayena - Trainz User ID: 69959) and I discovered that he'd modelled a lot of houses of the Northern France or Belgium, also castles, monuments, theaters, and I doubtless forget many others!

Actually, it is a prolific creator! The number of buildings which have been modelled by his care is incredible!

I am very impressed, I'm so long to deliver a simple house! Naturally, his buildings have no night mode, but they are beautiful and are a real opportunity for those who would like to reproduce a city of the North of Europa.

This article presents some some of its creations. I invite you to download them without moderation!

Attention!

In most of his objects's Config file, the trainz-build is 3.0 (which corresponds to Trainz 2010).

With a previous version of Trainz, his buildings aren't supported.

You just need to modify the Config file and replace 3.0 with 2.4 (for example) to see these creations in your game!
